THE CHALLENGE

· To replace the original 1950’s chimney with new incorporating current specifications
· The flare stack had to be designed for easy installation as removal of the old and replacement of the new had to take place during a three day shutdown period
· Collision control was key – we knew the chimney would fit together prior to delivering to site

 

THE SOLUTION

· Use of ladder macros extensively for CAT ladders made light work of the assembly
· Create automatic construction and assembly drawings from the Advance Steel 3D model
· Avoid collisions with the automatic collision control tools

“The model makes use of the ladder tools extensively and being able to calculate weights of assemblies was perfect for producing lift plans. Thanks to the collision control tools erection went without a hitch and the old stack was removed and replaced in a weekend.”
